The dispersion of potentially
hazardous exhausts from a building stack is of great concern
when address the possible consequences of such releases on the
health and safety of people and the environment in the downwind
vicinity of the stack.
The
following four pictures will show the effects of stack
height. Stacks must be tall enough such that the
dispersion of the effluent does not cause any environmental
and health hazards.

Wind
tunnel tests can be conducted to determine the smoke plume
boundaries given certain wind scenarios. Wake boundary and
recirculation zones near buildings can also be determined.
