Landing approach on river trip Oct 2004
This year, I found a good stretch in the first 5 miles of looking.
Truth be known, I actually screwed up a little last year. I had focused
too much on needing to land short, and plopped it in hard, hard enough
to have found when I was back home on flat pavement that a gear leg had bent slightly. I knew things weren't right when I was up there last year too -- it kinda took the fun out of things.
This year, my frame of mind was much more appropriate: I would not
land unless I found something completely stress free.
So this was it.And to double up on comfort, I not only made a 4th skim
pass along the "runway", but gave myself a couple spot landing
trials on a long levee nearby. Comparing my methods last year to
this year -- what a difference!
