Trailer Modification
Some of you other Kolb builder/owners have asked about my trailer.
Here's a pic to help get an idea of the simple mods I made to a
boat trailer. This is my brother Jim, who is an A&P and cares
for a Canadair Challenger for a charter company in Modesto, CA.
The primary trailer mods:
- addition of the wheel platforms and tie-down hooks. (I use
rope and tie a knot each time as this is easy and reliable.)
- removal of rear transom, replaced structurally with the angle
pieces up to transom near the axle.
- the trapezoid with side pads near the front of the trailer. This
is 3 pieces made to fit into each other and held by clevis pins.
- a post at about the same position as the trapezoid to cradle the
fuselage tube. (I also tie the tube to this post for transport.)
