Dr. Paul A. Erickson - Director
Dr. Erickson has been involved in hydrogen production and fuel cell research since 1997. He has pioneered efforts to enhance heat and mass transfer in hydrogen production units via acoustic field modulation and has practical experience in the operation, maintenance, and design of fuel cell vehicles and hydrogen production devices.

Welcome to The Hydrogen Production And Utilization Laboratory!

Hydrogen possesses certain beneficial characteristics and detriments when used as combustion fuels for transportation. The benefits include lower greenhouse gas emissions depending on the production source and high energy density per mass. The challenges include a low energy density per volume, need for high pressure storage containers, and a lack of an established supporting infrastructure. With these characteristics in mind, the University of California, Davis Hydrogen Production and Utilization Laboratory aims to research methods of lower cost hydrogen production and implementation.  

Where are we located?

The Hydrogen Production And Utilization Laboratory is a part of the Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering Department at UC Davis. The laboratory is currently located in 1127 Advanced Materials Research Laboratory (AMRL) on the UC Davis campus.
